Voluntary sector

Obviously the voluntary sector isn't part of the government. Equally obviously there is an overlap. At the moment (2006) this is formally managed through the Home Office Change Up programme.
Midlands Open Source Technology (MOST) is a ChangeUp-funded initiative, through Government Office West Midlands, intended to improve the IT infrastructure of the voluntary sector - regionally and nationally. MOST launched in December 2005.
ChangeUp are also funding an East of England project run by CIAC to investigate the use of FOSS in the voluntary and community sector. This project is currently investigating 3 main application areas: VOIP, CMS, and office productivity tools.
Social Source is a wiki which is a central point for an advocacy initiative seeking to promote and assist the practical use of Open Source Software within the UK Voluntary and Community Sector.
