CRIS - Communication rights in the information society

European Digital Rights defends civil rights in the information society. Currently 17 privacy and civil rights organisations from 11 different countries in Europe have EDRI membership.

UK

NO2ID is the non-partisan UK-wide campaign opposing the government's planned ID card and National Identity Register.

The Open Rights Group's goals are to raise awareness in the media of digital rights abuses; provide a media clearinghouse, connecting journalists with experts and activistsl; preserve and extend traditional civil liberties in the digital world; collaborate with other digital rights and related organisations; and nurture a community of campaigning volunteers, from grassroots activists to technical and legal experts. Much of the ORG's activity is visible on the ORG wiki.

Common Information Environment is concerned with UK citizens retaining the right to access information of all kinds.

Stand.org.uk is a group of volunteers who originally came together in 1998 in a vain attempt to fix the worst aspects of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers (RIP) Act. Backed up by a list of over 3000 supporters, Stand disseminate information and motivate the interested about issues around privacy and censorship, particularly with respect to the Internet.
